Clear Fluid Diets:

Some patients may find it necessary to avoid all food except for clear fluids in their Crohn's disease diet. In certain situations, the patients have improved their symptoms dramatically, especially if they had small-bowel Crohn's disease due to a partial small-bowel obstruction.

If you have been in a hospital and have not been allowed to eat or drink anything, clear fluids are usually enjoyable for a day or two. The diet sometimes gets pretty boring any longer than those two days and is very poor nutritionally (400-600 kilocalories per day).

It is important for you and your doctor to remember that you should not be on a clear fluids diet for more than a few days.
